Rickkter: Character Profile

Species: Gray raccoon
Sex: Male
Age: 33

While Misha is sometimes referred to as the Axe Wielding Maniac, Rickkter half-jokingly calls himself the Keep's resident Homicidal Genius.

Rickkter is a southern warrior mage of extreme talent and aggressiveness. He was trained in virtually all manner of weapons, though he favors swords and a collapsable fighting staff he possesses. The staff is an ancient Sondecki weapon that was recently lost to Charles Matthias, furthering a rift that has exsisted between the two of them. Rickkter has a very fluent talent with magic, and is far more flamboyant with it's use then other mages. He was trained as an alchemist at the Great Library at Akkron. After only a short tenure there, he left to pursue the life of a mercenary, hiring out to anyone who could pay his fee.

About two years ago he was diagnosed with a fatal disease. After searching many of the lands for a cure, he choose to make a last ditch effort and see if the Curse at Metamor might be able to rebuild his body as an animal morph, potentially saving him. While things did look grim, he lived through the change. He is now a mid- to high-level raccoon morph. But unlike many who have come to terms with their new froms, Rickkter has not. While being able to hide well behind his usual arrogant and self confident faccade, Rick still loaths what he has become, condisering it less than human.

Rickkter's talents with magic center around weapons, battle, and the ancient and occult. His main field of interest in magic centers around magic 2000 to 3000 years old. Naturally he has a great proficiency in languages, which is required for the wide variety of material he deals with. He has a personal library of magic tomes that rivals the Keep's in terms of potency.

Rickkter also has an unusually high knowledge, for one of his profession, of paranormal matters and concepts involving the gods and the realms beyond ours, in addition to a fair degree of medical knowledge. He writes off the first part to a diverse selection of reading material, the latter to a long love affair with a healer.

He has a history with several of the Keep's residents, most notably Charles Matthias. In the little time he's been at the Keep, Rickkter has also managed to annoy much of the nobility and power structure of Metamor. He has few friends, as his attitude is often one of arrogance or other unsociable traits. But to those who are his friends, he is fiercely loyal. Chief amongst those are Misha Brightleaf, along with with his love Caroline Hardy. The events of story Casualties of War illustrate both Rickkter's attitude towards enemies and the value he places on friends.

There is also a certain skunkette that he seems to be developing feelings for. Kayla is generally Rick's opposite: She is quite, very self consious of her form (something that origionated during the time after the battle of the Gates when she was changed), and genreally very unnoticed aside from her form. She works in Intelligence, corrolating information from all the reporting scouts and soldiers for the likes of Phil, George, Misha and other higher up. Kayla acknowledges that she is one of those people who toil in obsecurity, yet still loves her work. Her reaction to Rickkter's interest is still reserved, but she is definetly warming towards the first real male companionship she's had in years.

Rick is adjusting well to life at the Keep, despite some of the more distracting elements. The lutins provide a high level of battle time, and there is often something to test his skills in magic. But all that is the easy part. Relationships with the other occupents of Metamor? Now that's hard.
