|---|---|
| Sheriff Pierre Davis | The Sheriff of Barken. Ever concerned about his town, his main tasks are to welcome strangers, and organise the sentries from the police HQ in the middle of the town, next to the highway. He is a little like Lucas Buck, only not as evil. :) (first appeared in 'Shattered Pane of Glass', then 'Brownsville Turnaround', then 'Dr Joey Vermiclin', then 'Water From Sand') |
| Sentry Randy Kempe | The most experienced sentry of the town, and arch rival of Eddie Jones from Cherry. A tough character, he works most often alone. He is loved by all the town, and is noted for being stopped by coyotes wherever he goes. Has the hots for Jenny,, the police secretary. (first appeared in 'Shattered Pane of Glass', then 'Brownsville Turnaround') |
| Sentry Bill Budd | The second-most experienced sentry of the town, and effectively dep-sheriff under Davis. Not as seemingly tough as Kempe, and definitely not as quick on his feet. Equally loved by all the town as Kempe, he doesn't even attempt to steal Kempe's limelight, preferring to work his beat nearer the town. (first appeared in 'From Dusk Till Dawn', then 'Brownsville Turnaround', then 'Water from Sand') |
| Jenny (the police secretary) | Jenny works in the police department as the general secretary. She and Randy have a thing for one another. :) (first appeared in 'Brownsville Turnaround', then 'Dr Joey Vermiclin', then 'Water From Sand') |
| Rhonda Brumfield | The operator of the much-featured hotel where some of Barken's long-term residents dwell, as well as passers-through. Having been widowed recently, she took over runnning the business from her late husband and now covers much of the operation of the Barken Motel by herself. She is a little bit senile, but very friendly and a wonderful cook. (first appeared in 'Shattered Pane of Glass', then 'Brownsville Turnaround', then 'Dr Joey Vermiclin') |
| Dr Harvey Shishido | The town doctor/veterinarian. (first appeared in 'Shattered Pane of Glass', then 'Water From Sand', then 'Beyond the Stroke of Midnight') |
| Sentry Joe Beall | The third-most proficient sentry in Barken, second to Budd and Kempe. Lost a good friend in Mac when his head was blown to bits by Eddie Jones for taking his daughter Catherine out to the sticks south of Barken and hanging out with her. He found out later that Catherine had committed suicide over the affair and swore revenge on Jones, which never came. (first seen in 'From Dusk Till Dawn', then mentioned in 'Brownsville Turnaround') |
| 'Mac' | Amorous suitor of Catherine Jones who had his head blown off by Eddie Jones at the end of 'From Dusk Till Dawn' - the story was recounted in 'Brownsville Turnaround'. |
| Eddie Jones | Deranged Fundie who used to have fun blowing Barken residents away - like Mac - until he caught the curse himself and turned into a rather warped version of the werewolf legend. :) (first appeared in 'From Dusk Till Dawn', then 'Brownsville Turnaround') |
| Jason Kubelik | Once affected by the magic of Barken in 'Shattered Pane of Glass', he returned to help the experiments of 'Water From Sand', then was tormented by bitches on heat (amongst other things) in 'Beyond the Stroke of Midnight'. |
| Dr Joey Vermiclin | Appeared in the story bearing his own name first as a coroner investigating the mystery of Barken after a mysterious corpse had been offloaded into his hands. He appeared later in 'Beyond the Stroke of Midnight', after having been 'captured' by a dog-lover.. (!) |
| Will Bryant | The FBI agent that got involved with Barken in 'Water From Sand' through one of the scientists. He later returned as well in 'Beyond the Stroke of Midnight' to investigate those mysterious killings. |
